Change, Yes It Can Be Scary And Bring On Worry But It Doesn’t Have Too. Change Is In God’s Plan Too!

When we are fearful of the winds of change, we should cling to the word of God and embrace the new season.

Oh Boy! Have we been through a change this year or what? It feels life has turned upside down in a matter of months. Although our national economy and public restrictions are easing, our lives seem to turn upside down.

Like many of you, change is very hard for me and even harder for my wife. We tend to dwell on things and not on the word of God when our perfect little plan does not come together as we imagined.

For many of us, we feel completely out of control and we are just along for the ride. As Christians, we should not live in fear. We should live on the word of God and not worry about the next big change coming our way.

But, we are human and this constant change in our lives has us feeling uncertain, stressed and even somewhat fearful.

We should remember, God has a plan for us. It may not be the plan we expected. Events change as well as circumstances. In some cases, all the cards we had planned that would fall into place take much longer than we thought or not at all. In each of these events, we become frustrated, anxious and nervous about our future. For some, we may even be angry with God for not providing a way forward and on our timeline.

Thankfully, God knows our fears and concerns. He made us in His image and knows what we are going through in trying times. As we worry (needlessly) about our day to day lives, loss of a job or making ends meet, we should trust in the word of God. Yes, situations that don’t go our way or take a turn for the worse can be frightening. Trust me, I know! I’ve been there and it does not feel good.

As we attempt to control our circumstances we should remember who really has control, God. He tells us through His Word that we will face trials in this life. There will be a time for everything in life including the good, the bad, the joyful, the sorrowful and every other emotion under the sun.

The Bible explains in Ecc 3:1 – “There is a time for everything and a season for every activity under the heavens”. God has already fixed the time for the happenings in your life. In everyone’s life, we have good times and bad. If we really think about it, our lives are on a cycle. History repeats itself and patterns throughout history can be seen. So to, the history of our own lives can feel they are going in a cyclical process. We have our good times and bad, happy and sorrowful, dull and exciting. But this is all God’s work.

Our lives here are a test. For our home is in heaven and not here. So if you feel tested in trying and uncertain times don’t worry. Everything has a season and seasons pass. However, the word of god is eternal just like His promises. So, when the uncertainty of tomorrow is tormenting you, just remember Jeremiah 29:11 that reads “For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the LORD, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.”

I know it’s not easy, but if you have the faith of a mustard seed, you can move mountains. Give your fear and anxiety to the Lord and let Him soothe your heart. Amen
